Surreal. Illustr'Alice

Comment The exhibition «Illustr'Alice», which presents nearly 150 original works, books and documents produced by many European artists of the twentieth century and today, is devoted more specifically to the illustration of works on the theme of Alice. She explores not only the world of children’s books, where the theme has been omnipresent since its creation, but also the register of humorous and satirical illustration, where it is less expected. Depending on the geocultural sensibilities of the artists, who put the major component of Alice, the "nonsense", more or less ahead, it is treated in a very different way in Mitteleuropa, in France, in the countries of the North, or in the United Kingdom. This broad formal diversity is displayed through a thematic itinerary in the museum rooms.
